catsdoingthings.com ("the site," "we," "us") is a small personal project. This page explains what information the site collects and how it's used.

What we collect

• Anonymous voter ID. When you use the "Chase" or "Ignore" buttons, your browser generates a random ID and stores it locally (in your browser's localStorage) so your votes count once and can be undone. This ID isn't tied to your name, email, or any other personal information we collect.
• Uploads. If you submit a photo or video, we store the file itself, along with any name and caption you choose to enter. Both are optional — you can upload anonymously.
• Basic usage data. Like most websites, our hosting and advertising providers automatically log standard technical information (such as approximate location, browser type, and pages visited) for security and analytics purposes.

How we use it

Uploads are reviewed before appearing publicly. Vote and upload data is used only to run the site's core features — the feed, voting, and moderation queue. We do not sell any information collected through this site.

Advertising

This site uses Google AdSense to show ads. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to personalize the ads you see, based on your visits to this and other websites. Third-party content

Some images and videos in the feed are pulled live from public sources, including The Cat API, Cataas, and Reddit. Viewing this content may involve your browser making requests directly to those services, which have their own privacy practices.

Storage & security

Uploaded media and vote data are stored using Supabase, a third-party database and file storage provider. Reasonable measures are used to protect this data, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.

Children's privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your choices

You can clear your locally-stored voter ID at any time by clearing your browser's site data for catsdoingthings.com — this resets your voting history on this device.
